This bachelor's thesis examines the topic of Bluetooth Low Energy beacons, with the author exploring their potential applications, advantages and disadvantages, as well as their future in the retail sector. The first part explains the current state of the art and the technology itself. In the second part of the thesis, the author examines and addresses the research question. With the help of ten expert interviews, an attempt was made to answer the following research question as thoroughly as possible: "To what extent can Bluetooth Low Energy beacons influence the retail sector?". The material was analysed, evaluated and interpreted qualitatively according to Mayring.
