BOOMER AND THE EGG

The object on the ocean floor should have been impossible. No seams. No signal. No known material. No explanation. To Navy EOD officer James "Boomer" Bryce, it looks like a problem to solve-until the voice inside the shell speaks to him. Please don't hurt me.Her name is Luma. She is frightened, alone, and hiding from something far beyond Earth. But when alien vessels appear on approach, the military sees only a threat. Command orders the shell destroyed before it can put the world at risk.Boomer knows they are wrong.Haunted by the loss of his wife and unborn son, he recognizes in Luma something no scanner can measure: a child who needs someone to stand between her and the fear closing in from every side.So he runs.Against orders. Against his country. Against the full force of a military preparing for first contact as war.Because some promises are worth losing everything to keep.
