The author's father Sam and Sam's brother Tink were young boys when World War I ended. When all was said and done more than 9 million young men had perished. Resentment lingered, embers that would rekindle a fire more deadly than the first. Unfinished business eventually pulled Sam and Tink and millions of others like them into the next war. This is a generational remembrance of those who, like Sam and Tink, answered the call. History is the stage on which they appeared and their letters, lines that remind us that they were more than soldiers
