The egg tooth is the appendage a bird, reptile or monotreme, in its egg, needs to break out of the egg and begin to feed and grow. The author of this volume, Nicholas, found himself breaking out of a form of shell around his consciousness in 1977. The intention is to promote a life style blending the compassion and ending of pain of Buddhism with scientific thought and processes as Darwin practiced, to heal any divide between science and spiritual philosophy & increase the practice of rational compassion. That should enable survival without straying too far from the path of Buddha. This first volume on Buddho-Darwinism chronicles the journey and experiences of Nicholas that led to an understanding that living desires must necessarily be balanced by compassionate thinking and action. Our living planet is increasingly abused due to careless ambition and apathy. The objective is to show how to begin a journey to enlightened compassion for both people and creatures of earth, without losing a natural rational hold on life, enabling readers to 'walk' toward breaking out of any limiting shell they may be currently imprisoned in, growing in knowledge and acting compassionately. It has been written, "Even the longest journey begins with a first step". This first volume is intended as that first step.
