Bol The main focus of this study has been to examine the academic staff perceptions of Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) evaluation in Moroccan public universities to refute the erroneous claim made by some stakeholders that such institutions provide a low-quality education to graduates; The next major concern was to propose a tentative model of IQA evaluation with specific reference to academic programmes. The investigation began with a brief overview of the Moroccan Higher Education Landscape This was followed by a presentation of the key concepts of "quality" and "quality assurance". Then, attention has been shifted to a presentation of the Qualitative conducted with a selected group of senior university professors with different specialisations, and Document Analysis. The results revealed that all respondents rejected the criticism of low quality in public universities and attributed the issue to a confusion between "quality" and "skills". However, the same respondents diverged in their feedback regarding their awareness of the value of IQA, due to the fact that Quality Standards have been officially established only recently (in 2019).
