Butterflies Fly Like Poetry!

Acclaimed poet Bruce Roberts returns with his fifth collection of verse, Butterflies Fly Like Poetry! A retired English teacher, Poet Laureate Emeritus of Hayward, California, and Board Vice President of the Hayward Arts Council, Roberts brings his signature wit, deep empathy, and razor-sharp observation to a collection split into three distinct, powerful movements. The journey begins at home with Local Poems, tracing the evolution of his beloved hometown from its nostalgic past into the fast-moving present. Roberts masterfully balances heartfelt reflections of family roots and city history with poignant commentary on its present. Next up, the collection takes a colorful detour into Political Poems, delivering a piercing, unapologetic critique of contemporary politics and modern societal shifts. Finally, the book expands outward into Universal Poems, a brilliant, wide-ranging look at a world that is equal parts chaotic and beautiful. Exploring everything from the joys of travel and the arts to the complex challenges of the digital age, Roberts captures the full, unpredictable spectrum of modern life.Through it all, Roberts champions the enduring power of literature and the ultimate pursuit of peace.
