At its core, Byzantine examines how appearances can be weaponized-through politics, religion, and public perception-to manipulate truth and control narratives. The novel weaves together themes of corruption, loyalty, and justice, as a determined insider, Poe, begins to uncover a web of deceit involving a powerful political figure, a meticulously crafted public persona, and a system willing to protect its own. Inspired in part by prophetic undertones and symbolic elements, the narrative blends realism with deeper philosophical questions about morality, leadership, and consequence. Poe meets Garcia, a rich and playful sophomore, and that is where the story takes off. Poe and Garcia became best friends in college, but things suddenly changed when they met Austen, creating a twisted love triangle. Things made a dramatic turn when Garcia developed feelings for Austen and eventually got involved with the occult. As adulthood unfolds, Poe finds himself with a family of his own, a Cybersecurity business, and a life with God. On the other hand, Garcia becomes obsessed with power, prestige, and success. A series of events transpired as they found themselves in the country's elite circle, while living their separate lives. Garcia wanted to dominate the entire country and eventually the world. This resulted in Poe's journey towards love, faith, and having hope when there is no more hope in a time of war and famine.
