Doch schnell rückt in den Hintergrund, wer tatsächlich den stärksten Motor besitzt und am schnellsten beschleunigt, denn Lightning und Mater werden für eine Spionagemission ausgewählt und müssen sich nun auch noch als Geheimagenten beweisen. Vor allem Mater rückt in den Mittelpunkt des Interesses, muss er doch vor den Augen der Welt schwerwiegende Entscheidungen treffen.
