Cat Wars: A Journey on All Fours: Fours : Feline Epic of Honor and Fur

When animals go to war, the world watches from the shadows. In A Journey on All Fours, Ryusho Nemoto transforms a whimsical cat-and-dog rivalry into a sweeping allegory of loyalty, survival, and the strange innocence that lives even inside conflict. The second volume of this cult-favorite Japanese indie series follows Nyajiro, a former yakuza-cat trying to live a quiet life, and Nyannu, the sharp-tongued stray who refuses to leave his side. When political tensions between animal nations ignite into a proxy war for the human world, the two are pulled into a battlefield far larger than themselves. Dogs march as soldiers, cats act as spies, birds deliver encrypted messages, and the entire ecosystem becomes a living war map.Yet beneath the humor and chaos, the novel asks a disarming question: If animals wage war like humans, who among them will protect the small joys-food, naps, friendship-that make life worth fighting for?Blending satire, adventure, martial-arts action, and quiet philosophical depth, Nemoto crafts a story that is both wildly entertaining and unexpectedly moving. Fans of Beastars, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, and allegorical war literature will find themselves at home in this world where courage is measured not by strength, but by compassion.A fierce, funny, and heartfelt animal-war epic-from Japan's most imaginative independent storyteller.
