Charlie Bubbles, Pappou's Purple Heart: A True Story of Courage, Love, Family and Coming Home.

Charlie Bubbles began with a father's love for his son. In this deeply personal adventure, that love comes full circle. While sitting with his Pappou on a quiet porch, young Charlie discovers a Purple Heart and asks the question that carries them into the past. Through the magic of Charlie's bubbles, grandfather and grandson are transported to December 2, 1943, and the terrifying attack on Bari Harbor, Italy. Only sixteen when he joined the United States Merchant Marine, Charlie's Pappou faced danger, loss, and uncertainty-but he also witnessed extraordinary courage, friendship, sacrifice, and love. His journey home becomes a family story passed from one generation to the next. Inspired by the true story of Charlie Carafotes, Charlie Bubbles and Pappou's Purple Heart is a beautifully illustrated tribute to veterans, family, and the lesson that real courage also means being helpful, loving, and kind. A moving picture book for children, parents, grandparents, classrooms, and military families.
