A Dog's Life1918 - 35 min.This film was Charlie Chaplin's initial release for the National Studios, and also his first three-reeler. Chaplin Plays a Tramp, who shambles around the cold cruel world with his dog scraps, unable to land a job. Things take a turn for the better when Charlie befriends down-and-out singer Edna Purviance.The Kid 1921 - 69 min.This was Charlie Chaplin's first feature-length productions and one of his most satisfying films; a simple but very effective blend of genuine sentiment and big Laughs, in which the little Tramp finds an abandond baby. Chaplin incoporated a number of autobiographical elements in this film, drawing on his childhood memories of growing up in poverty. A young Jackie Coogan plays the 'Kid'.Behind The Screen 1916 - 21 min.In this short, Chaplin and Eric Cambell play a couple of bumbling stagehands at Gigantic Picture Studio's. Pretty Edna Purviance sneaks into the studio disguised as a boy, butt Chaplin soon finds out her secret. Charlie Chaplin spent so much time on this film that Mutual Films had to apologise to its exhibitors for missing the scheduled release date by two weeks.
