Childbirth Experiences Among First-Time Mothers

The childbirth experience among first-time mothers is a key indicator of the quality of obstetric care. This cross-sectional analytical study, conducted among 100 first-time mothers at the Monastir Maternity and Neonatology Center, aimed to assess their satisfaction and identify associated factors. In total, 83% of the mothers were satisfied with their experience. The highest scores were for postpartum care and the paramedical staff, while the main shortcomings related to communication, psychological support, and involvement in decision-making in the labor room. Immediate breastfeeding was the only factor significantly associated with higher satisfaction (p = 0.019). These results underscore the importance of strengthening guidance, communication, and support for first-time mothers to improve their childbirth experience.
