Bol This book explores the Baluba concept of God in Katanga in dialogue with the Christian message. Using African inculturation theory, it examines how the Baluba's religio-cultural heritage shapes their understanding of VIDYE and how this relates to the God introduced by missionaries. The study applies investigative, historical, descriptive-analogical, and comparative-dialogical methods, combined with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Careful sampling ensured reliable Baluba interviewees, while primary and secondary sources supported data collection. Respondents, both Christians and non-Christians, affirmed that VIDYE is the same God proclaimed in Christianity. The findings stress that African theologians must build a theology rooted in African contexts and able to address current realities. The study contains seven chapters, with chapters five to seven forming its core, and concludes with recommendations urging the African and universal Church to support the development of an authentic African theology.
