cindy's demons and the king of kodzod

The story begins with the 'Cindy demons' being abandoned when Cindy moves out after getting married. Driven by a desire to help Cindy furnish her new home, the demons embark on a journey to her new "pad," pilfering cheese, clothes, and other items from Cindy's former residence. Their unauthorized acquisitions are discovered by Cindy's irate step-mother and her frenemies, who, lacking knowledge of the demons' existence, find a mouse dropping and mistakenly deduce that Bing, the snake, is responsible for the missing garments. They set traps to apprehend the culprit, but their efforts only succeed in capturing Bing. The demons, meanwhile, successfully abscond with their stolen goods and join Cindy and the King of Kodzod, living in apparent happiness. The narrative takes a grim turn when the King of Kodzod, preparing for his coronation, decides Cindy is an unsuitable queen. He divorces her and sends her back to her father's house, ostensibly due to her unusual attachment to a mouse. The King then marries one of the daughters of the step-mother. Cindy is subsequently ostracized and ultimately meets her demise, her "affair with a mouse" being portrayed as a perverse obsession that leads to her end. The story concludes by reflecting on the innocent intentions behind the initial theft, yet emphasizing that the act of stealing itself is still considered a crime.
