Clima: 245

Lizzie Benson is a librarian in Brooklyn. She divides her attentions between her son Eli, her husband Ben, and her brother Henry, who is recovering from his drug addiction. In addition, she helps a former professor with the copious mail she receives because of her successful podcast on climate change, a topic that attracts all kinds of extremists: from those who are preparing for the end of the world to those who claim that Western Christian civilization Is in danger. And although Lizzie tries to be positive, neither her meditation classes nor the advice that she extracts from the shelves of her library manage to calm her anxiety about her brother's situation and the anger that she perceives in the environment. After the phenomenon novel "Speculations Department", Jenny Offill redeploys her scathing and intelligent prose and her exquisite fragmentary construction to build a story that perfectly captures the sentimental and political climate, chaos and contradictions, in which we live immersed. Radically contemporary, this acclaimed novel about our sick 21st century proves that humor, beauty, and hope are possible even on the brink of apocalypse.
