Coaching Youth Soccer for Beginners: A No-Experience Parent’s Guide to Running Practices, Teaching Fundamentals & Surviving Game Day with 7-9-Year-Olds

You said yes to coaching youth soccer. Now what? If you're a parent who volunteered to coach a 7-9-year-old soccer team and suddenly realized you're supposed to know what you're doing, this book is for you. Coaching Youth Soccer for Beginners is a practical, no-experience guide to getting through the season without needing to become a professional soccer coach first. Inside, you'll learn how to: - Build a simple practice that keeps young players moving and engaged- Teach the soccer fundamentals beginners actually need- Run practical drills for dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, defending, and movement- Adapt activities when you have too many, too few, or very different skill levels among your players- Handle your first game without trying to coach every second- Coach your own child without turning every car ride into a postgame analysis- Manage parents, communication, attendance, substitutions, and the inevitable surprises- Know what to do when a practice falls apart or something goes wrong- Finish the season with a team that learned, improved, and still enjoys playing This is not a tactics manual. It's a practical guide for the parent who needs to know what to do at Tuesday's practice, what to say when a player makes a mistake, how to organize a drill, and how to survive game day. You'll also get practical reference material you can return to throughout the season, including practice-plan templates, a game-day checklist, a drill reference, parent communication templates, a season reflection worksheet, and a league-variables checklist. Before you coach, learn the basics. Then keep this book in your coaching bag and use it when you need it. You don't need to be the smartest coach on the field. You need a plan, a willingness to learn, and a way to keep the kids moving. This book gives you the plan.
