Bol Pedro Opeka already knew in early childhood that his destiny was not to marry and have children. He had only two passions: Jesus Christ and soccer. He became a priest of the Lazarus order and moved to Madagascar. Having shared the miserable existence of a population obliged to scavenge in the dumps to survive, he founded the Akamason Association. Today more than 20000 people (of which 60% are children) live in villages they built with their own hands. There they have found dignity and a new sense of responsibility, pulling themselves out of poverty and becoming the actors of their own development. These villages respect basic Christian principles but also the same fundamental rules of any society: work, sports, education, pleasure. For the population he has come to love, Father Pedro tirelessly battles corruption in elite circles, the blindness of financial institutions and the absurdity of men. An exceptional commitment to the betterment of humanity.
