COMPANION BOOK FW 101: 101-Finding Purpose in the Later Years

FW 101 introduces students to a biblical understanding of purpose, calling, identity, service, and spiritual fruitfulness during the later years of life. The course challenges one of the most damaging assumptions surrounding aging: that usefulness diminishes simply because age increases. Students will examine Scripture, biblical personalities, ministry experience, and practical applications to discover that retirement from employment or a formal ministry position does not mean retirement from God's purposes. Special attention will be given to retired ministers and aging Christians who struggle with questions such as: Does God still have a purpose for me? Am I still needed? What do I do when the position I once held is gone? How do I deal with feeling forgotten? Can God still use me at my age? What does finishing well actually mean? The course ultimately moves the student from asking: "What have I lost?" to asking: "Lord, what would You have me do with the years You have given me?"
