CONDYLAR FRACTURES OF MANDIBLE

Condylar fractures of the mandible represent a significant portion of maxillofacial injuries, often resulting from trauma such as road traffic accidents, falls, or interpersonal violence. These fractures pose unique challenges due to their anatomical complexity, functional importance in temporomandibular joint movement, and impact on occlusion and facial symmetry.This dissertation provides a comprehensive overview of condylar fractures, including their etiology, classification, clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, and management strategies. Emphasis is placed on both conservative and surgical treatment modalities, highlighting indications, techniques, advantages, and potential complications associated with each approach.The study also explores recent advances in imaging, fixation methods, and rehabilitation protocols, aiming to improve functional outcomes and minimize long-term morbidity. Through a critical analysis of current literature and clinical practices, this work contributes to a better understanding of optimal treatment planning and patient care in cases of mandibular condylar fractures.
