Bol In a context where land is a major stake in the development of the countries of the Congo Basin, its allocation for various uses remains commonplace. These different forms of land use have sometimes led to overlapping, with considerable impacts. The aim of this book is to improve the management and prevention of overlapping land uses in the Congo Basin in general, and in Cameroon in particular, using the Océan department as a case study. It is also part of a local planning perspective, with the aim of carrying out an in-depth analysis of this phenomenon and proposing effective approaches to integrated land use planning. Supported by qualitative and quantitative data obtained from the field, the study identified 03 types of overlapping land use: overlapping natural resources, overlapping titles and overlapping rights. Lack of synergy between the ministries involved is the main cause, while financial losses, social conflicts and damage to corporate image are the consequences.
