In the 21st century, climate change is anticipated to raise the overall temperature of the planet and have profound impacts on human health, resulting in, for example, heat-related disorders, allergic and respiratory disorders, infectious diseases, mental health problems and violence. It is considered the greatest global health threat of the century. The impact of climate change on human health is closely associated with overpopulation, poverty, and socioeconomic injustice. This Special Issue, 'Confronting the Climate Change and Health Nexus: Interactions, Impacts, and Adaptation Strategies', comprises high-quality research related to the effects of climate change on human health and addresses the adaptation actions we may implement to protect public health from climate change. The 11 studies published in this Special Issue cover a broad range of topics, including mental health and climate anxiety, professional perceptions and preparedness, complex risk interactions, vulnerable populations, environmental exposures (heat stress, air pollution, drought, and disease vectors), and adaptation strategies. Together, these studies provide valuable insights into the climate-health nexus, informing strategies aimed at mitigating risks and promoting resilience across populations.
