Water pollution by heavy metals is a major environmental issue, due to their toxicity and accumulation in ecosystems. Industrial and agricultural activities are responsible for the contamination of water resources by metal ions such as lead, cadmium and copper. This book focuses on the use of an amide ligand as a complexing agent for the depollution of contaminated water. After a presentation of the fundamental notions relating to heavy metals and coordination chemistry, the book describes the synthesis and characterization of the amide ligand using various spectroscopic and analytical techniques. Particular attention is paid to evaluating the ligand's performance in removing heavy metals from aqueous solutions as a function of several experimental parameters such as pH, contact time and temperature. The results obtained demonstrate the amide ligand's effectiveness in treating polluted water and its promising potential in the field of environmental remediation.
