Conversations with the Earth

Exploration geologist Clyde L. Smith, PhD, reveals his methods in discovering a major zinc-lead-silver deposit in Yukon, Canada; gold deposits in Saskatchewan, Nevada, and Mexico; and his continuing focus on developing a gold-platinum project with impressive potential in Nevada. In a deeply personal and often humorous memoir, he leaves readers with a clear understanding of how he and other successful explorationists unravel geological complexities to discover hidden ore deposits. He answers questions such as:¿ How do concentrations of valuable metals originate in the first place?¿ How do explorationists seek to discover valuable deposits?¿ What can increase the odds of success?¿ What steps can be taken prior to drilling?Over the past six decades, the author's adventures have at times had an Indiana-Jones-like quality, as he's been involved as a founder, partner, manager, or consultant in projects in fourteen states in the United States, nine states in Mexico, eight provinces in Canada, as well as in Chile, China, Myanmar, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and South Africa. His adventures are profoundly educational, often challenging, and even thrilling.
