Cooperative Approaches to the Back End of Nuclear Fuel Cycle: Drivers and Impediments

An analysis of multinational cooperation in managing the nuclear fuel cycle’s back end, detailing drivers and obstacles in spent fuel management, reprocessing, and disposal. It examines institutional, economic, legal, and technical challenges while outlining pathways toward sustainable nuclear energy systems. This publication presents the results of the INPRO collaborative project on cooperative approaches to the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle. It analyses drivers and impediments for multinational cooperation in spent fuel management, reprocessing and disposal, including the development of multinational repositories.
