Dante: The Axiom Syndicate Book I

Dante had spent most of his life watching people. It was how he stayed alive. How he learned their habits, anticipated their choices, and ended lives before anyone saw him coming. After decades as one of the Axiom Syndicate's most effective assassins, he walked away for one simple reason: killing had become too easy. Three years into retirement, Dante wants nothing from the world except his paintings, his solitude, and the freedom to live unnoticed. Then he sees Isa. At fifty-three, Isabel Perkins has already spent enough of her life living around someone else's choices. Divorced, independent, and finally traveling on her own terms, she came to Amsterdam with a remote accounting job, an open itinerary, and absolutely no intention of falling in love. She certainly never expected the quiet, intensely observant man who keeps appearing in her path. Dante tells himself he is only curious. Isa tells herself she can walk away whenever she chooses. Neither of them understands how quickly curiosity can become obsession, or how dangerous it is for a man with Dante's past to finally have something he is afraid to lose. Because Dante may have left the Axiom Syndicate behind. That does not mean everyone in it has left him alone.
