This book entitled 'DARKER SIDES OF INDIAN TEACHING' brings to the readers the lifetime experience of the author about the Technical Education system of the country. Though he served many colleges of the vast state of Maharashtra, but it is crystal clear the picture is same every where in the country. The author does have a chequered experience of more than thirty- three years as a fulltime faculty of Engineering. The author does have the experience of both private and Government Engineering colleges. The author did have the scope to watch the teaching system from very close quarters and hundreds of loop holes are observed and narrated in this book. This loop holes are not related to a single college or university; it is related to the higher and technical education across the nation. Even IITs and NITs are not ruled out. The author narrated the inexpressible pain of the students' community and the hypocrisy of the Indian Teaching Community. There is no intention to target any individual or any single institute, but all the incidents narrated in this text are true. Description about students from various corners of the country are clearly penned down by the author. A clear idea is given about the examination system and question setting system. Proper light is thrown on the assessment system. Politics in teaching is properly portrayed. Nepotism and casteism are also taken care of. Knowledge of an ordinary Indian professor is challenged. Heinous characters of college Principals of different colleges are properly highlighted. Corruption in teaching is discussed. In detail discussion is there about the election of the professional bodies, Board of Studies, Dean, Academic Council and Management Council of the university. Last but not the least it is candidly expressed how the higher authority is worthless.
