A double bill of British modern classics. In 'Darling' (1965) Diana Scott (Julie Christie in an Oscar winning performance) is an ambitious model determined to make it to the top. Using her sexuality, she manipulates powerful men, but in so doing becomes a prisoner of the jet-setting lifestyle she once yearned for. Dirk Bogarde co-stars as Diana's long-suffering boyfriend. The film also won Oscars for Best Original Story and Screenplay, and Costume. Whilst in 'The L-Shaped Room' (1962) Leslie Caron stars as Jane, a young woman abandoned by the father of her unborn child. She contemplates an abortion after taking refuge in a boarding house full of strange misfits. But after meeting and falling for Tom, a struggling writer who lives above her, she begins to settle into her new place making new friends quickly.No subtitles
