Data Insights into China's Economic Evolution

Utilizing China's national economic data (1978-2023) and data mining techniques such as spatial autocorrelation and clustering algorithms, this study constructs a "general-specific-general" analytical framework. It examines the evolution, drivers, and policy implications of China's economic restructuring across five areas: regional economy, income distribution, industrial structure, value chain, and demand structure. Key findings reveal conditional beta convergence in regional economies and the growth benefits of coordinated development. Income distribution optimization and urban-rural gap reduction are associated with common prosperity policies. The industrial structure transitioned from agriculture-led to service-led, driven by service-manufacturing integration. The machinery sector is central to the value chain, though import dependence risks exist in high-end industries. A consumption-led demand structure has emerged, with income-driven service consumption fueling growth. This data-driven approach offers policy support for high-quality development, common prosperity, and secure industrial chains.
