Decline and Fall by Evelyn Waugh is a darkly comic satire about Paul Pennyfeather, a mild-mannered theology student who is unfairly expelled from Oxford and drawn into a series of absurd and increasingly disastrous events.As Paul becomes a teacher at a shady school, gets engaged to a wealthy and morally dubious woman, and ultimately lands in prison, the novel mocks the hypocrisy, superficiality, and corruption of British society in the 1920s.
