Academic performance is one of the topics that has attracted significant interest in recent years. It reflects the effectiveness of the education system, which can be measured through the results of students taking the second part of the state-administered baccalaureate exam each year. The issue addressed by the author is identifying the determinants of academic performance. This book addresses this concern by demonstrating that teacher qualifications and principal leadership-particularly participatory leadership-are key determinants of academic performance in Haiti. Thus, actions to improve academic performance should first and foremost aim to enhance teacher qualifications and strengthen participatory governance through training programs for teachers and school principals.
