Development of Meat and Fat Productivity in Sarajin Sheep: Sheep Rearing Technology

This monograph presents data on the development of meat and fat productivity in Sarajin sheep bred in Turkmenistan. Scientific research has revealed changes in the chemical composition and caloric content of meat in young Sarajin sheep and demonstrated the accumulation of fat with age in fat-tailed sheep. The biological value, culinary qualities, and other indicators of the meat have been determined. Based on histological studies, the growth of the longest back muscles has been examined. The zootechnical feasibility and economic efficiency of slaughtering rams at 8 months of age have been established. This monograph is intended for students and faculty members of zootechnical and veterinary departments at universities, specialists in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, as well as a broad readership.
