Distraction Osteogenesis

Distraction osteogenesis (DO) in orthodontics is a surgical method that leverages the body's natural ability to regenerate bone in order to gradually lengthen or reposition jaw bones by inducing a controlled fracture, followed by slowly separating the bone segments with a specialized device. This process creates a gap that allows new bone to develop, making it an effective solution for addressing severe craniofacial deformities when traditional orthodontic treatments are inadequate.
