Alice Carta went to Canada to leave her bad memories of London behind for good. An archaeologist by trade, she chose a job in a library in a tiny, remote town in Nova Scotia. A peaceful, sleepy village with a view of the bay, in which she could process difficult emotions without anyone bothering her. Alice and Philip play their own cards, while pretending to be fully on board with law enforcement, and also keeping close to their civilian contacts. When it seems that everyone in the town of Steep Ridge might be complicit, the pair rush to solve the murders before they join the body count.
