Dodecahedron: A Novel in Short Stories

2026 International Book Awards FinalistBest New FictionTwelve interconnected vignettes, like the sides of a dodecahedron, tell the story of Donnybrook, New York, a small town unlike any other. From its possible Norse mythological roots to the coming of COVID-19, from the seventeenth-century Dutch Beaver Wars to intrepid voyagers braving the seas bound for distant Tahiti, from an enigmatic theater in the Revolution to its fateful sacrifice on the Western Front, its history holds a mirror aloft, asking us who we as Americans are. Linked by a common mystery-how did Roman dodecahedrons, relics of the ancient past, get under Upstate New York soil?-each vignette depicts individuals in intense moments of crisis, in equipoise between the past and the yet-to-come. The war profiteer, the jaded author, the desperate, guilt-ridden museum curator . . . meet them in the mirror of T. G. Monahan's Dodecahedron.
