Drought Projections and Irrigation Management

This book presents an in-depth exploration of drought behavior and irrigation challenges in Bundelkhand, a historically drought-prone region of central India. By applying advanced drought indices such as SPI, SPEI, aSPI and SSI, the study identifies long-term drought trends and evaluates their implications on regional agriculture. Utilizing high-resolution CMIP5 climate models, it projects future drought scenarios and quantifies changes in crop and irrigation water requirements (CWR and IWR) for key Rabi, Kharif and hot-weather crops. The book also proposes optimal sowing periods and cropping patterns to enhance drought resilience. Emphasizing future-ready strategies, it offers practical solutions for climate-adaptive water resource management and sustainable farming.
