Dumb Man's Folly: Stories of Ordinary People Living Lives

Society has its wisdom. One man has his doubts. In these ten stories, ordinary people encounter questions concealed within ordinary life. What does freedom change if power still arrives at the same door? Does responsibility mean protecting people from every consequence? Can equality exist without equal accountability? Where does faith end and human ambition begin? And how much of a life can be understood from what others are allowed to see? There are no perfect heroes here and no convenient villains - only workers, parents, children, neighbours, officials and devotees trying to do what seems right while carrying contradictions of their own. These stories claim no answers. They belong to a man whose ideas often appear out of place in the world around him, and who therefore wonders whether the error may be his.Perhaps the world is right, and these stories are only one man's folly. The reader must decide.
