Dusty: Screenplay & Synopsis

When drifter Cody Hays spots smoke rising over a lonely stretch of country, he never expects to find a young woman standing alone in the ashes of her burned home. Dusty Sheas has lost everything except a soot-blackened box she won't let out of her sight - and the story behind it. Cody brings her to the small town of Windridge, where a fresh start seems within reach: a new job with the local mining company, a room at the boarding house, and a growing spark between them. But Windridge holds its own tangle of secrets. A recovering friend's obsession grows more dangerous by the day. A bank officer's unwanted attention won't take no for an answer. And the local sheriff can't shake one question about a box that should have been too hot to touch. As old wounds and new dangers close in, one storm on the open road will force everything into the light - and test how far love can reach into a life that's never had a place to call its own.
