E.D. White Cardinal Baseball: A Legacy of Excellence

The names change but the legacy endures.When it won its first baseball state championship, the school was known as Thibodaux College. After one year as Thibodaux Central Catholic, the school's name changed to E.D. White Catholic High School. As E.D. White, the school has gone on to win six more state titles, including four straight from 1998-2001.Edmund Gros is one of the many names among the players and coaches of the highly successful Cardinal baseball program. He helped lead the schools to its first state as a junior pitcher in 1958. He became the only person from the school to win a state title as a player and coach when the team he guided won the crown in 1974. A player under Gros, Boyd Hebert, went on to win three state titles from 1998-2000. Among the great players was Jonathan Zeringue, a catcher and pitcher, who is the only person in school history to start on all four of E.D. White's state championship teams during its amazing run from 1998-2001. Many other names have contributed to the baseball team's enduring success.E.D.
