Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is a non-invasive agent used for arresting dental caries, particularly in pediatric population. Its efficacy is attributed to the combined action of silver (antimicrobial), fluoride (remineralization), and ammonia (stabilization). Clinical evidence shows high caries-arrest rates especially in primary teeth. However, a major limitation is black staining of treated lesions, which affects esthetics.Nano Silver Fluoride (NSF) is a newer alternative that incorporates silver nanoparticles, fluoride, and chitosan. It demonstrates comparable antimicrobial and remineralization potential to SDF while minimizing tooth discoloration. The study concluded that SDF had a better caries arrest rate when compared to nano silver fluoride, although the results were statistically significant.
