Ek Vyaktitv: Chaudhary Ajit Singh (February 12, 1939 - May 6, 2021) Ajit Singh was born on February 12, 1939, in Bhadola village, Meerut district, in the United Provinces (now part of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand), to Gayatri Devi and Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. Ajit Singh earned a B.Sc. from Lucknow, a B.Tech. from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Kharagpur, and a Master of Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and worked at IBM, USA. He was the only son of his father's six children, with five sisters. He is married to Radhika Singh, daughter of Kunwar Sukhvir Singh Vishnoi of Moradabad. They have two daughters (Nidhi and Deepti) and a son, Jayant Chaudhary.Political CareerAjit Singh, a computer engineer, was one of the first IIT students to enter politics and became a politician. Chaudhary Charan Singh died in 1987.He returned to India at his father's call. Chaudhary Ajit Singh served as a Union Minister in the Indian Government four times, a Lok Sabha member seven times, and a Rajya Sabha member once. He lost the Lok Sabha elections thrice. He once missed out on becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and then Mulayam Singh Yadav became the Chief Minister.Ajit Singh passed away on May 6, 2021, due to COVID-19.Last words: A message for Jayant Chaudhary: He should take special care of the farmers and the people of the villages, because there is no medicine there and no one to listen to them.
