Even in the worst conflicts, humanity can appear in the most unexpected ways. During the war, soldiers from both sides put down their weapons and leave their trenches to save a nest of baby birds from the only tree that survives the destruction. A remarkable story told by a grandfather to his granddaughter which celebrates human spirit even in the most terrible times. A tale about war, but also about the kindness that endures even in the most atrocious circumstances.
