Empowering Mothers: Understanding Antenatal Care for Pregnant women: knowledge & women

In Egypt, many pregnant women lack sufficient knowledge about essential antenatal care practices such as dental hygiene, vaccination, and nutrition. A study by Mohamed and Hassan (2019) at Ain Shams University found that most pregnant women had poor knowledge about dental care and its link to pregnancy outcomes. Similarly, Abdalla et al. (2024) reported that over 50% of pregnant women believed in diet-related myths, like the benefits of moghat and helba, indicating the need for proper nutritional education. Regarding immunization, Mehanna, Ali, and Kharboush (2020) found that only 41% of reproductive-age women in Alexandria received the tetanus toxoid vaccine in their last or previous pregnancies, largely due to limited awareness. These findings collectively highlight the urgent need to strengthen antenatal education programs in Egypt to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.Limited knowledge regarding antenatal care among pregnant women has been linked to adverse maternal outcomes.
