Environmental agenda of the state Chihuahua, Mexico: Challenges and opportunities for spatial planning

The formulation of the Environmental Agenda for the State of Chihuahua includes the identification of local or regional environmental problems and conflicts in the territory that must be prevented or resolved by means of a management model, strategies and criteria for ecological regulation. The Agenda is also a guide that allows focusing the information that must be integrated into an integral environmental policy, and a planning mechanism that allows narrowing down the information gathered that is most relevant to the process, during the stages of elaboration and promotion of an integral environmental policy; with special importance in focusing the issues for an ecological management from the territory.Through this instrument, environmental problems are identified and priorities for attention are categorized, based on the compilation of technical and scientific information on the region, the ecological planning studies that have been carried out, and the results of the regional public participation workshops.
