Despite the abundance of water resources in North Ubangi, the vast majority of its population depends on rivers and groundwater-particularly well water and natural springs-often having to go to great lengths to access them in order to obtain drinking water and, at the same time, address this water shortage. In the Mobayi-Mbongo area, this situation has led to a resurgence of waterborne diseases and the burden of carrying water on the head, a task imposed primarily on women-particularly mothers and young girls. This study will provide insights into variations in the quality of spring water in rural areas during seasonal changes, the impacts of human activities on the future of these water sources, and the feedback from altered environmental components. Researchers, forward-thinking individuals, and policymakers can use this document to understand the consequences of potential changes in ecosystems-whether caused by human activity or natural phenomena-that could alter water quality and quantity and affect the environment and public health.
