Environmental Management Dynamics in the Context of Armed Conflicts: Indigenous Knowledge, Natural Resources, and Ecological Governance Eastern DRC

This book examines the interactions between armed conflict, environmental degradation, and the application of international humanitarian law in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in the Masisi and Walikale territories. Using a qualitative approach based on field observations, interviews, and a review of the literature, it analyzes the effects of conflict on natural resource management, ecosystems, and civilian populations.The study highlights the role of indigenous knowledge, local governance, and international humanitarian law in mitigating environmental impacts and strengthening community protection. Finally, it proposes an integrated approach that reconciles legal standards, local practices, and humanitarian action to promote resilience and sustainable resource management in conflict contexts.
