Epidemiology of Existing and Emerging Livestock Diseases

As a crucial source of protein, revenue, and agricultural sustainability, livestock production is essential to human livelihoods, economic growth, and global food security. However, infectious diseases that affect animal health, commerce, and productivity are a persistent challenge to this industry. Food security, animal health, and public health are all impacted by livestock illnesses, which pose a major global concern. The epidemiology of these diseases has significantly changed as a result of globalization, climate change, and increased livestock production, as well as an increase in human-animal interactions. A significant share of the world's infectious disease concerns are emerging and re-emerging illnesses, especially zoonotic diseases. This study examined the dynamics of livestock disease transmission, risk factors, surveillance systems, and new developments like molecular epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance. It highlights the One Health concept as a cornerstone of illness prevention and control.
