Bol Pulmonary hydatid cyst (PHC) is still an endemic pathology in Tunisia, particularly in southern Tunisia. The latest epidemiological studies investigating the national distribution of this parasitosis date back to the 1990s. Surgical series published nationally and internationally have reported varying numbers of patients, but rare are those that have studied the risk factors for morbi-mortality associated with this surgery. We have therefore attempted to study the epidemiological, clinical, and radiological profile of PHCs operated on in the surgical center draining southern Tunisia since the beginning of our activity, to evaluate surgical management, and to establish the risk factors for morbidity and mortality associated with this surgery. There are still areas of hydatid hyper-endemicity in southern Tunisia. PHC surgery is associated with several morbidity and mortality risk factors, the knowledge of which would allow for better patient management, the establishment of the best possible chronology and therapeutic strategy, and the further reduction of post-operative risks.
