Estética del cuidado: la práctica en vida cotidiana

Aesthetics, from the perspective of Yuriko Saito, cannot be reduced to a philosophy of art; rather, it is intimately linked to our daily lives--to the care of the everyday--that is, to the relationship we establish with the "other," whether these be human beings, non-human creatures, environments, or objects. Beyond its identification with an ethical imperative, care constitutes an essential component of an approach to aesthetics that seeks to enrich human lives and define the way we relate to the world. Drawing inspiration from the ethics of care as well as from Japanese culture and aesthetics, the author demonstrates the inseparability of the ethical and the aesthetic in the pursuit of the good life and a virtuous self.
