EXISTENTIAL ALIENATION: A STUDY IN THE CONFLICT BETWEEN DESIRE FOR INDIVIDUALITY AND ALLURE OF CONFORMITY

This book represents a significant intellectual milestone in the thought of Dr. Hassan Hammad, who has long been interested in the theme of alienation, beginning with his study of alienation in the works of Erich Fromm and continuing with his study of alienation in the writings of Abu Hayyan al-Tawhidi. In this book, Dr. Hammad addresses the issue of alienation in existential philosophy, which the author believes is still capable of answering many of the questions that trouble the human mind in our current era. Existentialism, like any philosophy, is not dead, and we are in dire need of revisiting some of the existential issues and ideas that we have forgotten in the clamor of daily life: such as anxiety, freedom, nausea, absurdity, rebellion, and alienation.
