Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is a plant with high production rates in Brazil. Its processing generates a large amount of a moist fibrous by-product that poses disposal problems. This by-product, known in agribusiness as bagasse or pulp, has high starch and fiber content. Therefore, the objective of this study was to extract, characterize, and chemically modify cassava bagasse fiber (CBF), apply it in the production of composites, and use it to obtain nanocrystalline cellulose.
